Needs Analysis

I have been in field of teaching for the last 12 years. I am surprised to see and experience overgeneralisation of students learning needs in education across the levels of education. People (expert) believe that students at a level have similar learning needs irrespective of their mother tongue, culture, medium of instruction, socio-economic characteristics. However, a person with hunger, thirst, needs food, and water respectively to satisfy his/ her needs. Why can’t we afford the same in learning needs. Why can’t we make it specific to each class at least if not possible for individual student due to administrative constraints. Why is the process of needs analysis taken for granted. The teacher may take the initiative formal/informal to do this before trying to make learner’s learn something that suffice the features of innovative, modern, skill oriented, competitive, etc. We the teachers shall provide a way out.
